Alan Chapell

President, Chapell and Associates; Vice-Chairman, NAI Board of Directors

Alan Chapell sits on the NAI board on behalf of AudienceScience. Chapell began his career at a boutique direct marketing agency in Stamford, Connecticut in the early 1990's. After several years at the agency, and after a long sabbatical in Mumbai, Chapell moved to New York City and to Jupiter Research, an Internet research firm focusing on the consumer Internet economy. During his 4-1/2 years at Jupiter, Chapell also attended Fordham University School of Law. 

Alan is the President of Chapell and Associates, a consulting firm that helps marketers build customer trust through responsible privacy practices. Chapell founded Chapell & Associates in October of 2003. Since then, his firm has helped over 100 media and technology companies craft their privacy and data strategies. He was appointed as privacy ombudsman by the U.S. Trustees Office in some of the largest bankruptcy cases in our nation’s history; including General Motors and Chrysler. In addition to his work on the Board of the Network Advertising Initiative, Chapell is Co-Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association's (MMA) Privacy Committee, a member of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Advisory Board, a member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and a prolific writer and sought-after speaker on interactive marketing topics.

Alice Lincoln

Vice President of Product Management & Data Governance, MediaMath

Alice Lincoln, CIPP/US, is Director of Product Management & Data Governance at MediaMath, where she is responsible for advising all internal teams on the development of products and business partnerships in compliance with global data protection laws and industry self-regulation. Responsible for MediaMath’s large global footprint, she has strong connections to self-regulatory groups around the world and a keen understanding of the challenges companies face when operating under a myriad of differing local codes. She works to establish internal data governance policies and procedures and ensure that those standards are communicated and adhered to. She is also responsible for cultivating MediaMath’s thought leadership in these areas and representing MediaMath on relevant committees and councils.

Alice has 15 years experience in digital marketing, data product development, and the protection of consumer privacy. In her career, Alice has led web development for a major international humanitarian relief charity and run a marketing and fundraising technology company serving national nonprofits and multiple presidential campaigns.

Alice has led MediaMath’s engagement with the NAI on the development of its “Beyond Cookies” guidance and first-party opt-out tool. A chemist in a former life, Alice holds a BS from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MS from Stanford University.

Ari Levenfeld

Chief Privacy Officer, Rocket Fuel Inc.

Ari has spent the last ten years working in ad technology focusing specifically on compliance, editorial guidelines and brand safety. Before becoming a director at Rocket Fuel, Ari was a manager at Yahoo! Overseeing teams responsible for creating, optimizing search marketing campaigns for small and medium size business clients. He graduated from the University of Southern California.

In his leadership role at Rocket Fuel, he advances sustainable consumer friendly standards for digital advertising and brand safety. Rocket Fuel has served as a leader in advancing the broader digital advertising ecosystem, including serving as a founding member of IAB’s Traffic of Good Intent Task Force and Technology Task Force, and on the Ad Council’s Board of Directors and in providing support to the Mobile Marketing Association.

Brooks Dobbs

Chief Privacy Officer, KBMGroup

Brooks Dobbs is Chief Privacy officer for KBMGroup, a global leader in knowledge based marketing solutions, where he is responsible for global privacy compliance across member companies.

Brooks has worked with the NAI since its inception and is a former Chairman. He has recently served as an invited expert to the W3C’s Do Not Track working group and is an author of the W3C’s P3P, Platform for Privacy Preferences, specification. Brooks is frequent speaker on privacy and technology issues, and has worked in the drafting of numerous industry self-regulatory initiatives including: online preference marketing, behavioral advertising, web beacons usage, commercial email standards and Adware standards.

Prior to joining KBMG, Brooks served as the Chief Privacy Officer of Phorm, Inc. and as the VP of Government Affairs and DataProtection for DoubleClick, Inc.

Dave Fall

General Manager and Senior Vice President of Operations, Tapad

Dave Fall serves as Tapad’s General Manager and SVP of Operations. In this role he oversees execution of corporate strategy, including ownership of privacy initiatives, business retention and growth, go-to-market activities and day-to-day operations. Active in both leadership as well as media product management, Dave plays a cross-functional management role within the company.

A seasoned digital media vet, Dave held senior roles at DoubleClick (including oversight of their Paid Search products), before and after their acquisition by Google. During his 10 years with DoubleClick he worked on most all of DoubleClick’s ad technology products for both publishers and advertisers.

He also served as COO of Clickable/SYNCAPSE, where he drove notable growth for the company. During his five years there, Dave worked closely with the company’s investors, partners and board members in running board meetings and developing strategic initiatives.

Additionally, Dave served on the Board of SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) for four years. During that time he also acted as the organization’s VP and Treasurer. Fall was the co-founder of the SEMPO New York Meetup group, which attracted hundreds of members and was instrumental in helping the organization move to a local chapter model resulting in measurable growth.

Dave has an MBA in Operations Management from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA.

Douglas Miller

Vice President and Global Privacy Leader, AOL; Chairman, NAI Board of Directors

Douglas Miller, CIPP, is Vice President and Global Privacy Leader at AOL Inc., overseeing a range of privacy operations including guidance, compliance, education, and planning.  Prior to becoming a full-time privacy professional in 1998, his AOL duties included child and teen protection, online conduct, content and advertising guidelines, anti-spam initiatives, and consumer safety and security.  Before joining AOL, he led government affairs for the Software Publishers Association.  From 2004-07, he taught courses in Internet Policy and Computer Ethics at Old Dominion University.  He has served on the Education Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Network Advertising Initiative.

Estelle Werth

Global Privacy Officer, Criteo

Estelle Werth is Global Privacy Officer at Criteo, a global leader in digital performance display advertising. Estelle manages risks and business impacts of privacy laws and regulation ensuring privacy protection of users.  Estelle implements and oversees privacy practices and policies at Criteo in an effort to sustainably empower users and build user trust on a framework that promotes transparency and user choice. 

Prior to joining Criteo, Estelle was an IT attorney at law at Ernst & Young law firm focusing on information technology, online services and data protection.

Julia Shullman

Senior Director, Deputy General Counsel, Commercial & Privacy, AppNexus

As Senior Director, Deputy General Counsel, Commercial & Privacy, in addition to counseling on commercial and product matters, Julia spearheads AppNexus’s global privacy work. She joined AppNexus in May 2014 and before focusing on privacy matters was the lead attorney for commercial and product matters for AppNexus’s Publisher Technology Group. Before AppNexus, Julia worked at UBM, a British information company where her practice focused on mergers and acquisitions and commercial matters. Prior to UBM, she was an associate at Latham & Wakins where she advised clients on mergers and acquisitions and corporate matters. She received a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.

Mark Partin

Managing Counsel, Privacy and Security Legal, Oracle

Mark Partin is managing counsel in Oracle's privacy and security legal group. Mark serves as a senior adviser to business and executive management, and provides legal counsel on a broad range of technology and privacy matters. His role supports all of Oracle's global functions and broad product and service portfolio. Before focusing on privacy matters, Mark helped build Oracle's cloud legal group. Prior to joining Oracle, Mark was a litigation associate at Vedder Price P.C. in Chicago. He earned his JD from DePaul University, cum laude, and his BS from Indiana University, where he studied Business and Computer Information Systems. Mark is a Certified Information Privacy Professional through the IAPP.

Matthew Haies

Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Xaxis; Secretary, NAI Board of Directors

Matthew Haies is Senior Vice President, General Counsel at Xaxis, where he oversees the company’s worldwide legal strategy.  He previously served as General Counsel and Vice President, Privacy Strategy at AppNexus, where he built the company’s legal team from scratch.  Prior to that, Matt founded and was CEO of a privacy-focused startup, and also served for five years in senior legal and privacy roles at Google and DoubleClick.  Matt was formerly a corporate attorney at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, and holds a B.A. from Duke University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.

Noga Rosenthal

Chief Privacy Officer, Epsilon

As Chief Privacy Officer, Rosenthal oversees all privacy-related activities for Epsilon and its Conversant business, including those related to online and offline data, compliance, consumer awareness, transparency and choice, and helps guide the company's global public policy efforts.

Prior to Epsilon, Rosenthal served as General Counsel and Vice President for Compliance and Policy for the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), leading their compliance program and ensuring that member companies delivered on the promise of self-regulation for interest-based advertising. Rosenthal has an extensive background in online advertising, legal issues and emerging technologies, previously serving as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of WPP plc companies Xaxis (formerly 24/7 Media, Inc.) and Media Innovation Group, LLC. She has represented her past employers across committees and boards including the Advisory Board of the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Legal Affairs Council and the Public Policy Council of the Interactive Advertising Bureau, the International Association of Privacy Professionals Education Advisory Board and the NAI Board of Directors.

Noga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science from the Rutgers College and a J.D. from Fordham Law School. She is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars.

Shane Wiley

Vice President of Privacy & Data Governance, Yahoo!; Treasurer, NAI Board of Directors

Shane Wiley is a lead on the Privacy and Data Governance team at Yahoo! supporting over 1 billion users across 150 products, services, and platforms in over 50 markets in 29 languages operating across PCs, mobile devices, and cutting edge consumer electronics. With over 20 years of experience in software engineering, product management, and policy related responsibilities, Shane is a recognized leader in developing sound policy solutions to cutting edge technology challenges. Shane received his undergraduate education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - B.S. Aerospace Engineering and is a Certified International Privacy Professional.
